KNITTING PATTERN INFORMATION
This sweet 1940s Rose Garland Fair Isle Jumper ⁄ Sweater has a garland of roses at the front of the neck and a band of similar roses all around the lower edge. The rest of the jumper is knitted in stocking stitch with borders of double ribbing. Instructions are given to knit this pretty vintage jumper with short or long sleeves.
KNITTING PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS
MEASUREMENTSBust: width all around at underarm 32 inches, stretching to 34 inches
Length from shoulder: 18 1⁄2 inches
Sleeve seam: 6 inches short, 18 inches long
MATERIALS
Original yarn suggestion and needle size info:
6 oz of Patons Fingering wool 3 ply in white for short sleeves, 8 oz for long sleeves
1 oz each in red and green
No 10 knitting needles ( 3.25 mm)
No. 12 knitting needles (2.75 mm)
TENSION
Worked to a tension of 8 stitches and 10 rows to 1 inch in stocking stitch.
The original yarn may not be available due to the age of the pattern. Select the yarn type that is closest to the weight of the original yarn.
When reworking the pattern it is best to knit a tension swatch with your chosen yarn. To get the correct measurements, your tension must be the same as stated in the pattern.
