KNITTING PATTERN INFORMATION

 

This lovely 1940s Pretty In Pink cardigan with its classic line is easy to knit.  The ribbed welts continue to a point on the front and sleeves. The borders are also ribbed. The rest of the cardigan is stocking stitched. Directions are given for a range of sizes. 

 

KNITTING PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS 


MEASUREMENTS:

Bust: Instructions are for 34 to 36 inch bust, and any changes needed for working a 40 to 42 inch bust are given in [parentheses].


MATERIALS:

Original Yarn  suggestion and needle size info:   

 

For 34 to 36 inch bust sizes

8 oz 3 Ply Fingering 

No. 10 Needles (3.25 mm)

No. 12 Needles (2.75 mm)

 

For 40 to 42 inch bust sizes

10 oz 3 Ply Fingering

No. 10 Needles (3.25 mm)

No. 12 Needles (2.75 mm)

 

TENSION  AND YARN:

7 1⁄2  stitches and 10 rows to one inch

 

The original yarn may not be available due to the age of the pattern.  Select yarn that is closest to the weight of the original yarn.

 

When reworking the pattern it is best to knit a tension swatch with your chosen yarn. To get the correct measurements, your tension must be the same as stated in the pattern.
