This attractive 1940s Music Fair Isle Jumper ⁄ Sweater by Bestway can be knitted in two ways: the all over design shown on the cover, or a plain jumper with the Fair Isle used only as a yoke at the back and front.
KNITTING PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS
MEASUREMENTS:Bust: width all around at underarm 33 inches
Length from lower edge to top of shoulder: 21 1⁄2 inches
Length of sleeve from underarm: 18 inches
MATERIALS:Original Yarn suggestion and needle size info:
7 oz. Super Scotch Fingering 3-ply wool in Stone3 oz. Super Scotch Fingering 3-ply wool in Brown
No. 10 needles (3.25 mm)
No. 12 needles (2.75 mm)2 Four Inch Zips
TENSION AND YARN:
Over the Fair Isle pattern, 25 stitches to 3 inches and 8 rows to 1 inch.
The original yarn may not be available due to the age of the pattern. Select yarn that is closest to the weight of the original yarn.
When reworking the pattern it is best to knit a tension swatch with your chosen yarn. To get the correct measurements, your tension must be the same as stated in the pattern.
