KNITTING PATTERN INFORMATION
The knitted 1940s Lady's Scarf, Gloves & Socks will keep your warm on cold days. They are the perfect accompaniment to outdoor wear. The complete set is knitted on two needles. Plain stocking stitch is a perfect addition to the attractive two colour stripe, which is used for the hands of the gloves, the sock turn-overs and the wide ends of the scarf. Three sock sizes are given.
KNITTING PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS
MEASUREMENTSThe Scarf length: 32 1⁄2 inches, 9 1⁄2 inches across the widest part
Gloves length: 10 inches
Sock length: from the top to lower edge of heel including the turn-over 7 3⁄4 inches
Length of foot 8 1⁄2, 9 or 9 1⁄2 inches
MATERIALS
Original yarn suggestion and needle size info:
6 oz. of Patons Beehive Fingering 3-ply in yellow, 2 oz. in brown or
2 oz. yellow and 1 oz. of brown for scarf
2 oz. yellow and 1⁄2 oz. brown for socks or gloves
No. 10 knitting needles (3.25 mm)
No. 13 knitting needles (2.25 mm) pointed at both ends
TENSION
For the Scarf: 9 stitches to one inch and 15 rows to one inch over pattern (after pressing).
For the Socks & Gloves: 11 stiches to 1 inch and 22 rows to 1 inch over the pattern (after pressing). Over the st.-st., 10 sts to one inch and 13 rows to one inch.
The original yarn may not be available due to the age of the pattern. Select the yarn type that is closest to the weight of the original yarn.
When reworking the pattern it is best to knit a tension swatch with your chosen yarn. To get the correct measurements, your tension must be the same as stated in the pattern.
