Knitted on two needles, these 1940s Fair Isle Mitts are very cozy for winter wear. The original pair were knitted in natural and red. Instructions are included to knit four colour mitts (see second cover photo).
KNITTING PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS
MEASUREMENTS:Width acrosss back of hand, above thumb division: 3 1⁄2 inches
Length: 10 inches
ORIGINAL YARN SUGGESTION:
1 oz 3 Ply Wool in Natural
1⁄2 oz 3 Ply Wool in Red
No. 10 Needles (3.25 mm)
No. 11 Needles (3.00 mm)
TENSION AND YARN:
8 stitches and 10 rows to 1 inch
The original yarn may not be available due to the age of the pattern. Select yarn that is closest to the weight of the original yarn.
When reworking the pattern it is best to knit a tension swatch with your chosen yarn. To get the correct measurements, your tension must be the same as stated in the pattern.
