KNITTING PATTERN INFORMATION

 

The 1940s Charlotte Fair Isle Jumper ⁄ Sweater matches the Charlotte Cardigan pattern and can be knitted with long or short sleeves. The original model was knitted in natural 3 ply wool and the Fair Isle pattern in shades of red, green, yellow and blue.

 

KNITTING PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS 


MEASUREMENTS:

Bust: width all around at underarm 39 inches

(for a 41 inch bust use No. 8 needles) 

 

MATERIALS:

Original Yarn  suggestion and needle size info:   

6 oz Patons Beehive Fingering 3 ply, natural

8 oz if long sleeves are worked

½ oz each of red, green, yellow , blue

No. 9 needles (3.75 mm)

No. 11 needles (3.00 mm)

 

TENSION:

7 stitches to 1 inch in width on the stocking stitch with No. 9 needles

 

The original yarn may not be available due to the age of the pattern. Select the yarn type that is closest to the weight of the original yarn.

 

When reworking the pattern it is best to knit a tension swatch with your chosen yarn. To get the correct measurements, your tension must be the same as stated in the pattern.
